Ever seen the movie Elf? My life, in various respects, feels very much like Buddy's first ride on the escalator. I know what needs to be done but I can only manage to get one foot moving upward while the other one is staying firmly planted in the safe zone... refusing to move even when I look absolutely ridiculous... trying to simultaneously play safe and take risks.
